Chest Reconstruction Surgery Procedure Options

Double Incision Mastectomy

Also called a bilateral mastectomy, double incision mastectomy involves opening the skin on the chest using two horizontal incisions—one at the top and another at the bottom—of the pectoral muscle and removing breast fats, tissues, and excess skin. The nipples and areolas may also be decreased in size and repositioned for a natural-looking flat chest.

Double incision top surgery is ideal for patients who:

Have medium to large chests

Have low skin elasticity

Have no concern for nipple sensitivity

Keyhole Top Surgery

Keyhole top surgery, using the periareolar approach, makes a semi-circular incision along the base of the areola and the breast tissue is removed using liposuction. This top surgery technique leaves the nipple stalk intact, allowing for a higher chance of maintaining nerve sensation. Despite the desirable benefits, keyhole top surgery isn’t for everyone. Only about 5% of the general population are good candidates for this procedure.

Keyhole top surgery is ideal for patients who:

Have smaller chests
(A-B cup breast size)

Have good skin elasticity

Nipple-Sparing Double Incision Mastectomy

In this procedure, two incisions are made along the lower border of the pectoral muscles, similar to a standard double incision mastectomy. The breast tissue is meticulously removed, creating a more masculine chest contour. Throughout the process, the surgeon takes great care to detach the nipple-areola complex from the underlying breast tissue while preserving its blood supply.

Keyhole top surgery is ideal for patients who:

Have smaller to medium chests

Looking to Preserve the Nipple

Body Contouring: Masculinization Surgery

Body masculinization surgery is a series of procedures that aim to transform feminine curves into a more masculine physique. It uses liposuction to remove body fat from the hips, abdomen, buttocks, arms, and other areas that create a feminine appearance.

Body Contouring Masculinization surgery is ideal for patients who:

At least 18 years old

Body mass index of 35 or less, or have a weight proportionate to their frame

Non-smokers or who can quit smoking four weeks before the procedure

Have taken hormone therapy for at least a year

Gender Affirming Surgery

While weight training, hormone therapy, and diet can help you achieve a more masculine physique, there are certain fat stores in the body that are difficult to change with exercise and diet alone. Gender affirming surgery—may be required to achieve your desired physical aesthetic goals.

Gender affirming surgery combines top surgery and body contouring procedures in order to help eliminate that “hourglass” figure so you feel more confident in your skin.
